Hem ThonPonloue beats personal best but fail to Qualify
Cambodia's dream on progressing in to the last 16 of the 50m Free Style Swimming was dashed following Hemthon's Ponloue's failure to meet the 22.22 mark to qualify for the last 16.
Drawn in Lane 7 of Heat 3, Hemthon Ponloue started off the block with the 3rd best reaction time of 0.73secs and was racing on to the 3rds place as at 25m only to lose steam towards the end to finish 8th place with a time of 27.03.
His time of 27.03 however sets a new personal Best chopping off the 0.19 sec from his previous best of 27.22 set in Shanghai in 2011.
"I tried my best, and was really hoping to do better but unfortunately, my time was not enough to take me to the next round. however i am happy to have broken my personal best and do hope to continue to improve."22 year old Ponloue stated moments after the event.
Hem Thonponloue' 27.03 secs is still way off the National Record of 26.48 set by his current Coach Hem Kiry at the 2004 games in Athens.
